With the dissertation completion option, you will participate in two in-person dissertation intensives that give you the opportunity to meet face-to-face with CENTRAL CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY faculty and staff; network and socialize with peers; and participate in hands-on workshops that will help enhance your research, writing, and critical thinking skills as you work on your dissertation.

As a PhD aspirant, you will need to follow these steps:

• PhD students should have knowledge about various area of their Major.
• Find a supervising professor and identify a research area (but not a specific topic at this point). In consultation with your advisor, choose three courses (in addition to your diversity course). Choose courses designed to prepare you for the research you plan to do.
• Schedule a Research Preparation Exam.
• Submit a Research Qualification (RQ) Document to the University. In the RQ document, the student
• Provides evidence of satisfying the background requirements
• Submits coursework with satisfaction of the GPA requirements
• Provides evidence of completing the Research Preparation Exam
• Formalizes dissertation advisor(s)
• The RQ document must be filed by the end of the 1st year in the PhD program
• After you Become PhD Candidate
• With the assistance of your supervising professor (Guide), select a committee.
• The Guide must approve your committee prior to making final committee plans
• Select a date and time when all committee members can be present for the proposal.
• Pass the proposal exam.
• After passing your proposal exam, you will need to complete an Application for Candidacy

Schedule and Pass the Final Defence At least 4 members of the 5+ member committee must be present. Non-attending members must provide written explanation for their absence and must agree to read and comment on the dissertation by the time of the defence.

Students are encouraged to complete the dissertation within 1 to 2 years. The maximum time to degree completion is 3 years.
The majority of our students take over 2 years to complete their doctoral study or dissertation.

Postdoctoral fellowships are intended for students who, upon completing the Ph.D. degree, wish to acquire an expertise in a specialized field or in an area of research that is complementary to their academic training.

Every year, CCU welcomes more than 450 postdoctoral fellows in humanities, art and literature, social sciences, basic and applied sciences, and health sciences.

Eligibility Conditions
To be eligible for postdoctoral fellow status, you must:

• have received, within the past five years, a research-based Ph.D. or have similar academic training (for example a professional degree in a biomedical field + research internship);
• have received a favorable recommendation from the professor in charge of the fellowship and from the chair of the academic or research unit in question;
• have a scholarship or be paid by the supervisor or by the academic unit in order to carry out a full-time research period, which normally cannot exceed 3 years from the first registration.

N.B. Individuals having earned their required degree in the preceding ten years may exceptionally be eligible for postdoctoral candidate status if they can justify the additional number of years with specific career interruption. Eligibility : Ph.D and 10 Years Work Experience

Doctorate in Literature programs require students to work as teaching assistants. Serving as a teaching assistant will require their regular presence on-campus, making long-distance learning impossible. As such, a Doctor in Literature degree is unavailable for individuals who wish to earn it online. Most applications oblige students to lodge a formal request, usually with the accompaniment of published works such as those concerning their work in major companies, peer-reviewed serials, and unpublished reports approved by the Senate. These publications will be examined by national and international experts. Many universities also require a master’s degree in Literature for admission.
